FACTOR announces new “Artist Development” Grant Program starting April 1!
As of January 29, 2016, FACTOR will no longer be accepted Demo Program grants. In replace of this it seems as though FACTOR has put together a smart “All In One” grant application for Artist Development which will be launched April 1, 2016.
Eligible artists will include those who have updated FACTOR Applicant and Artist profiles and have been given a Level 2, 3 General or Professional Songwriters in the FACTOR system. If you have yet to sign up but hope to apply for future funding, go to www.factor.ca and do so ASAP so you are in the system before these programs are launched. You cannot apply for any applications without doing so first, so once you are set up you will be set to apply for this, or any others that you may be eligible for.
The first application deadline has been announced for May 26, 2016 and will target a larger range of activities including Marketing, Tour, Showcase, Video and Sound Recording as is appropriate for the projects needs.
I believe we can expect this to be a great program offered more brilliantly to provide funding support for Canadian talent. I do think the application process we will see to be far more extensive then any application in the past yet similar to a Juried Sound Recording or Marketing Application. It will be mandatory to submit:
- Goals and expected results
- Recording Start Date
- Detailed information for each track you intent to record
- Lyrics (where applicable)
- One MP3 assessment track
- A description of changes you intent to make to the track
You may also want to include support material such as
- Professional Photo
- Producer Biography
- Up to 5 press clippings
- Chart History
- Awards and Accolades
- Tour Dates
- Letters of Support (agents, labels, distributor, mgmt, radio etc)
Other mandatory information may include (TBD)
- Marketing Plan
- Video plan and full details with goals
- Tour/Showcase plan and full details with goals
- Additional Mp3s and lyrics
DEADLINE: May 26, 2016
I think we can expect to see other deadlines in September + January.. TBD
Results will take 12 weeks after the Application Deadline to be announced. I will be sure to do a follow up with you all after April 1st once more details have been announced.
