Bonnie McGrew

“The music industry is forever changing and evolving. No wonder bands have a hard time knowing what to do or where to go next… This is where I want to help.”

Bonnie McGrew started as a professional musician at age 16; writing and performing with an award-winning band which released two CDs. She then attended the Arts and Entertainment Management program at Capliano University in North Vancouver. It was there that her interest in working behind the scenes really caught her attention, and she found a niche and passion there; so much so that she gave up performing.

After interning at 604 Records (owned by Chad Kroeger and Jonathan Simpkin) she met her future employer, Chief of Chief Music Management (Manager for Dallas Smith, Florida Georgia Line, Chris Lane, Joey Moi, Mat Kearney and many others). Bonnie had been working alongside Chief for his companies Chief Music Management and Big Loud Mountain as an Assistant Manager, Executive Assistant, and Personal Assistant for 9 years.

Given her knowledge from her day-to-day management position, musician friends and acquaintances were constantly asking Bonnie for advice. She acted as a consultant for over 15 acts and realized there was a strong need for developing artist and musician consultation services. From there she created Music Box Artist Consulting. Since then, she has worked with hundreds of bands from North America of various levels and genres. she has been able to supply artists with professional bios, hot-sheets, marketing plans, and has applied for over 60+ grant applications on their behalf via Creative BC, FACTOR, Starmaker, and Creative Sask.

Since learning the “in’s and out’s”, she has also started managing acts of her own under including rising country music star: Wes Mack. Bonnie worked to develop Wes from the ground up; he went on to win the Unsigned Only competition out of thousands of applicants in 2013, winning CCMA’s 2013 Discovery Program, gaining a top 10 single in Canada, and securing his current North American record deal with Universal Music Canada/ Big Machine and going on to tour with Shania Twain on her Rock This Country Tour in 2015.

Bonnie has also had the privilege of working with other high-profile industry and artists over the years such as; Jessie James Decker, Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley, Three Days Grace, One Bad Son, Shawn Hook, Nickelback, Hinder, MacKenzie Porter, Brian Howes, Matt Sorum, Ludacris, and many others.
